It's a False Flag!!

I should not be surprised, but it was only a matter of minutes before the truthers started spinning the incident in Austin today. Given that that is the home of Alex Jones, I am sure one could come up with creative theories implicating the large one himself. From his Infowars website though:

“According to a federal official, the crash was intentional, and the pilot, Joseph Andrew Stack, had set fire to his own house before stealing a Cirrus SR22 single-engine plane from Georgetown Municipal Airport and crashing it into the Echelon Building,” reports Jordan Yerman for NowPublic.

Readers of Infowars.com have posted a link to the following anti-government screed, written by Mr. Stack. It increasingly looks like the Austin plane crash is a false flag attack.

Part of it is that Truthers are 'into' trutherism.

Like motorbike/computer/sports enthusiasts, they will talk endlessly about anything connected to it.

As for Jones, we all know what he's like.

Not only does he see himself as a newshound (if you think that's a laugh, try writing it), he also needs people to read his site so he can stay popular and make more money.

He gonna be quick with stuff like this.

And, who knows what part Jones and his ilk played in driving this man over the edge?

Yeah, because every single "tax protester" has flown a plane into a building, right?

You guys haven't really had any domestic incidents have you? I know that various Islamic groups have targeted Australians in Indonesia though.
I was sorta hoping that there weren't as many crazies in Australia as in the rest of the Anglosphere. Just hot blondes and kangaroos : )

Of course it's a false flag. That's why the government was quick to blame it on Iranians.

I really want to know if any attack in American history wasn't a false flag in the minds of these idiots. Was Fort Sumter a false flag? How about Lexington and Concord?

Anybody read this asshole's suicide note? He wasn't a 9-11 Truther, but he has the same logic as one.

Here's the definitive paragraph:

Some friends introduced me to a group of people who were having ‘tax code’ readings and discussions. In particular, zeroed in on a section relating to the wonderful “exemptions” that make institutions like the vulgar, corrupt Catholic Church so incredibly wealthy. We carefully studied the law (with the help of some of the “best”, high-paid, experienced tax lawyers in the business), and then began to do exactly what the “big boys” were doing (except that we weren’t steeling from our congregation or lying to the government about our massive profits in the name of God).

This is so much something a 9-11 Truther would say. It has the same tone of arrogance, ignorance, incompetence, laziness, smugness, and self-righteousness as what wafts from the collective asshole of trutherism. Let's look at the components of the above claim:

1. Start with a legitimate grievance. The tax loopholes that large, wealthy churches benefit from are obscene, and citizens are right to be mad about them. As with the 9-11 investigation, there are many things to be unsatisfied about, such as first-responder health issues and the failure to hold anyone culpable for what happened.

2. Conduct amateur research. The guy wanted to make a statement about church tax exemptions, so what did he do? Call a tax lawyer? Research other cases where people made similar claims? Write his congressman? Join a political action group? No, he got together with his beer buddies and studied the tax code himself! Fun Saturday night that must have been.

And so it is with Truthers. Every goddamn 9-11 Truth movie, every goddamn book, every lame website from Loose Change to New Pearl Harbor to Citizen's Investigation Team was made by some Truther with no professional training and no ability to analyze the information. And for confirmation, they ask other Truthers with similar lack of credentials. Remember Dylan Avery bringing on David Ray Griffin as "fact checker"?

Conspiracy believers put all their faith in the work of other amateurs. They don't trust professionals; they're "in on it" or "sheeple" or "paid shills" or otherwise blind to the obvious truths that seem to reveal themselves only to petulant teenage males and lifelong conspiracy authors with a new book to sell.

"But wait", you're thinking, "He said he hired the best tax lawyers available!" I'm getting to that...

3. Have your amateur insights confirmed by professional charlatans.

For those of you not familiar with tax dodge schemes, let me tell you exactly what this guy did in the quoted paragraph.

He tried to evade taxes by declaring himself as a church.

Seriously. That's what he did. It is (or used to be) a common tax-evasion trick. It never works.

But the world (and these days, the Internet) is full of people who will charge you exorbitant amounts of money to try. They'll tell you it works. They'll cite court cases, knowing their marks will never verify them (see #2 above), or understand what they mean (see #2 above), and will be impressed by their phony but impressive-sounding credentials (see #2 above).

Who does this remind you of? Richard Gage, and his phony-baloney 1000 "architects and engineers." Every wacko belief system has a half-professional/half-charlatan class writing books and lending their phony credentials to fleece the sheep and reinforce their belief. And if you fall for the IRS conspiracy stuff, and make filings based on it, it can really mess up your life.

4. When you lose, it's all a conspiracy against you.

After this asshole lost his court case, he went on to say:

this is where I learned that there are two “interpretations” for every law; one for the very rich, and one for the rest of us… Oh, and the monsters are the very ones making and enforcing the laws; the inquisition is still alive and well today in this country.

No, you didn't lose because there are two interpretations of the law. You lost because a person is not a church. Even if you're a pastor, you are not a church. But he spins this into a massive government conspiracy against him. As he did everything else that ever befell him -- most of which was his own stupid fault.

Trutherland has too many examples of this mentality to count. The failure of the NYCCAN petition is probably the biggest one.

And finally:

5. Appeal to altruism, but act only in self-interest. We've all seen Truthers beat the drum of first responders and victim families... when it's convenient to their agenda. And at no other time.

This asshole's suicide letter is just dripping with proclamations like this:

The intent of this exercise and our efforts was to bring about a much-needed re-evaluation of the laws that allow the monsters of organized religion to make such a mockery of people who earn an honest living.

But if you read everything else the man says and does, his only real interest is in lining his own pockets. All these "exercises" seem to benefit only himself.

Then he turns around and accuses "fat cats" of acting out of greed and disinterest in others, as he torches his $250,000 home, and kills someone with his $30,000 aircraft.

The guy should have the words "what an asshole" on his tombstone. Which also makes a nice epitaph for the 9-11 Truth movement.

It's hardly a coincidence that paranoid and narcissistic personality disorder usually occur together.
This piece of shit left a "manifesto" online. I'm sure it was brilliant and profound and will start a revolution. He was just pissed as his wife and thought he was above the law. Who doesn't hate the IRS? Taxes don't give you the right to murder. This sick son of a bitch set his house on fire while his wife and daughter were still inside!

Aussie, yes.

"Islamic groups have targeted Australians in Indonesia though"

Maybe. As far as the Bali bombings, from what I can gather, that might have been be more about local issues than Australians, i.e. targeting a popular tourist locaation.

"I was sorta hoping that there weren't as many crazies in Australia as in the rest of the Anglosphere."

The crazies are here, but in lesser numbers, I suppose, though I'm sure the specific cultures of each country also plays a major part (though I'd have to place that question in the hands of the Americans posting here about the USA).

Fortunately, no terrorist slaughters here so far (ignoring the massacres of Aboriginals in convict times), but really, it's all fucked, no matter where it is.

Ultimately, it doesn't matter to me if it's Americans, Australians or someone from the Upper Congo but, yes, it's good that nothing has happened.

"Just hot blondes and kangaroos"

Every country I've been too has hot women. My girlfriends have been from all parts of the world, too. Must be something about the gender.

Yup, the 'roos are great.

It's a great place to live (and we have New Zealand next door).
