SPLC Notes KBDI Crackpottery

In a terrific column.

Now, however, a mainstream media source is providing an uncritical platform for FEMA camp lore: KBDI Colorado Public Television aired the video “Camp FEMA: American Lockdown” twice last weekend and has scheduled another showing for March 13. The 90-minute film opens with newsreel footage of Japanese-Americans being forced into internment camps during World War II and then trots out conspiracy die-hards who suggest that freethinking Americans today may face the same fate. Those featured include syndicated radio host Alex Jones, who frets about one-world government at Infowars.com; longtime Patriot broadcaster John Stadtmiller, who insisted after the Oklahoma City bombing that the U.S. government was behind the mass murder; and James Lane of the Patriot group We Are Change, which does not believe that al-Qaeda perpetrated the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

I love the ending:

But not everyone was happy. Jacob Gore of Aurora, Colo., who had been a small contributor to KBDI for a couple of years, told Hatewatch he stopped watching the station after it aired the Sept. 11 programs. “I can’t believe I’m seeing this on public television,” he recalls thinking at the time. In a comment posted on KBDI’s website, he also asked to be taken off the station’s mailing list. “I’m sure when sanity returns to KBDI,” he wrote, “I will hear about it through the usual channels (the microchip implanted into me by the government, of course.)”

LOL! No, we'll put the secret message in the chemtrails! ;)

I'm always torn between supporting the propagation of whatever in hopes of sharpening the wits of the people through exposure, and on the other hand being concerned for people who don't have the faculties or resources to reason through this kind of stuff.

I want to support information diversity for its own sake, but I don't want to see the U.S. regress to a political environment like Russia or the Middle East where nearly everyone is a conspiracy theorist.

Yes, we all live in some ghastly neo-fascist nightmare. The prescient freethinking truthers, fingers on the pulse as always, are trying to save us from the dystopian hell that awaits us.

I read a post on some conspiracy site that had the title AMERICA IS DEAD. These people wouldn't last five minutes in Iran.

Does anyone actually believe this embarrassing shit? There are real problems in the world, - the possibility of conspiracy theorists being detained in internment camps isn't one of them.

Anonymous: "I read a post on some conspiracy site that had the title AMERICA IS DEAD. These people wouldn't last five minutes in Iran."

Me: Iran is a terrible place. Do we settle for "different from Iran", "almost Iran" or "nearly not Iran"? How can we be guaranteed that we don't end up there if we don't start protesting early, when the gears and levers of the totalitarian machine are slowly being slid into place?

Given the unrelenting erosion of constitutional rights, which are now granted by exception to current unconstitutional laws only, and the animalistic misconduct of American troops abroad, how much better is the United States from, say... Russia?

Can we quantify? How big of a margin do we have left? Surely we're much better of than Iran, but when do we start making waves? What standards and norms do we apply to our own backyard in terms of justice and morality?

When you point fingers at the terrible, omnipresent threat of terrorists and "terrorist apologist" "conspiracy theorists", isn't your fear mongering in same league?

The reason "AMERICA IS DEAD" appears on sites and, perhaps, banners, is because it's still reluctantly allowed, and while it's allowed, we'd better damn well say it until it isn't anymore.

I don't see this enormous gap between American and Iranian immoral government anymore. America is no longer a "shining beacon" of freedom. Exceptionalism is a delusion.

The FEMA Concentration Camp bullshit has been floating around the conspiracy outhouse since 1998. I went to the premier website that promotes that houseshit and to my amazement I found that Fort Ord was one of the sites that is listed as being groomed for use as a prison camp.

One Problem...

There is now a Cal State University there, a new shopping center and eventuallu a bunch of new subdivisions will be built there. Even a basic check of the sites that are listed as FEMA camps show they they are in development or already have been developed.

Finally, not one single element of the bill of rights has been removed. There is no erosion of constitutional rights. There are complaints about phantom rights that have been lost. Phantom rights such as the right to privacy, which though are implied by the 4th Ammendment are technically not stated as such.

You can go around saying America is dead all you like, but it makes you sound like a bit of a nut.

"I don't see this enormous gap between American and Iranian immoral government anymore."

That's because you've lost it.

Just after:

Apparently basic civil rights are merely "phantoms" which can't be lost in the first place.

I rest my case...

If so, why hasn't the NWO locked you up yet?

Speaking of KDBI, most public television stations get plenty of corporate donations. What do these sponsors think of the this conspiracy crap that is being shown?

Me: There have been plenty of unreasonable arrests and miscarriages of justice over the years. It doesn't necessarily have to be me to be true.

Nice try, but you compared the US with Iran where people are getting death sentences for protesting the dubious election results from last June. So, I'll repeat, if the US is no different from Iran, why aren't you on death row?

Me: I didn't say the United States is equivalent to Iran, but that the gap is closing. Not every unsavory occurrence has to involve me personally either for me to object, unless I was a colossal egoist, of course.

I want the United States to be vastly opposite from Iran in every way, not just "better". In the UK, by the way, a film maker who made a documentary about 7/7 was arrested and jailed. Do you think this is the right thing to do? Another UK example: what about Jean Charles de Menezes?

(The UK is not the USA, nevertheless, I'd like to know what you think)

It looks he was arrested for something equivalent to jury tampering.

Not clear if he is still in custody but he apparently broke British law.
